Spotify opens its AI playlist tools to a first group of indie labels

Release metadata now feeds the playlisting model directly, with the test running across roughly 200 label accounts.

Drafted in founder voice (LinkedIn / X):
Spotify has opened its AI playlist tools to a first group of indie labels. The metadata you file on release day is now doing the job your plugger used to do on the phone. We spent this morning rewriting one-sheets for it.

What you get

The scanning, the scoring and the first draft, done before you open your laptop.

Monitoring that runs without you

Around 50 RSS feeds, trade titles and community sources, checked all day. Your laptop can be shut.

A score and a clock on every story

Scored against your industries and keywords, then marked for urgency, so a busy morning shows you three things worth reading instead of ninety.

Anti-slop scoring on every draft

Our own scorer reads each draft for the constructions that give AI writing away. Anything that trips a rule goes back for a rewrite before it reaches you.

Drafts that publish from here

Written in your voice once you have set one up. Connect LinkedIn and a draft goes live when you press Publish, so the whole thing finishes in one place. Twitter/X and newsletter drafts are yours to copy.

Morning angles by 7:30am

The day's stories with the angle already worked out, in your inbox before the first meeting.

Post Roast

Paste a draft you wrote yourself and get a blunt edit, scored against the stories peaking today.

How it works

Setting it up takes about five minutes. After that it runs on its own.

Drafts get marked before you see them

The prompt bans the constructions that give AI writing away, and a scorer checks whether the model listened. Anything scoring three or more goes back for one rewrite, and you get whichever version comes back cleaner.

The real shift in AI agents isn't just model benchmarks — it's direct tool execution. When your agent can read live data and trigger workflows autonomously, you stop building glue scripts and start shipping products.

Agent tooling has moved from benchmarks to execution. An agent that can read live data and run a workflow ends the era of the glue script you rewrite every fortnight. We deleted four of ours this week.

Same story, same length. It names a thing that happened and takes a position you could argue with, which is the part a reader notices.

That first draft came off this page. It was our own sample post for months, until we ran the scorer over it and it came back a 6.

Built by people who pitch music for a living

NewsJack came out of Total Audio Promo, our music PR company. Every morning we were scanning the trade press for stories our artists could react to, then racing to draft posts before the moment passed. So we built the tool we wanted: it watches the music news for you, scores what’s worth jumping on, and drafts the post in your voice. We use it every day for our own clients.

— Chris, Total Audio Promo

The draft that beat everything hand-written

20 August: NewsJack flagged the morning’s radio trade story and drafted the take. Chris rewrote the opening line and posted it. Four times the reach of anything he wrote by hand that fortnight: 336 impressions against a 12 to 83 range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is newsjacking?
Newsjacking is the practice of capitalising on breaking news and trending topics to generate relevant content that positions you as a timely, informed voice in your industry.
How does NewsJack find relevant stories?
We monitor 50+ RSS feeds, trade press, and community signals across Tech, Marketing, Music, and Creator economies. Our AI scores each story for relevance and viral potential, surfacing only the opportunities worth your attention.
What platforms can I generate content for?
Currently we support Twitter/X threads, LinkedIn posts, and newsletter snippets. Instagram and email templates are coming soon.
Can I customise the content voice?
Creator, Pro, and Agency plans include custom voice profiles. Set your preferred tone, phrases, and style to match your brand.
How is this different from open-source agent skills?
Agent-skill toolkits need a terminal, a coding agent running on your machine, and your own API keys — and they only monitor while your laptop is on. NewsJack is hosted: it watches trade sources around the clock, scores every story, and has your drafts ready before you wake up. No setup, no prompts, no terminal.
How is this different from DIY automation workflows?
You can wire this up yourself with an automation tool, a news API key, AI billing and a spreadsheet of your old posts — it takes an evening and breaks quietly. NewsJack is that entire pipeline as a product, tuned for your industry, with scoring and angle quality you don't have to maintain.
What does it cost to try?
Nothing. The free plan gives you one jack a day on one industry, with no card and no end date, and it stays that way for as long as you use it. Paid plans add more stories, more industries, your own voice profile and the morning email, and you can cancel from the billing page whenever you like.
How do you stop the drafts reading like AI wrote them?
Two ways. The prompt bans the constructions that give it away, and then a scorer we wrote checks whether the model actually listened: banned words, the "it is not X, it is Y" move, tricolons, engagement-bait closers, sentences that all come out the same length. A draft that trips a rule goes back for one rewrite with its own violations attached, and you get whichever version scores cleaner. The scorer runs on every generation, not on a sample.
